Congressman Phil Gingrey Pledges to Stop New Drilling Ban
The American Conservative Union has announced that Congressman Phil Gingrey has signed the Energy Freedom Pledge to help eliminate America’s dependence on foreign energy and stop attempts to reinstate the ban on offshore oil and gas drilling which was lifted October 1.
ACU Director of Government Relations Larry Hart said signing the pledge will help the U.S. take another significant step toward increasing domestic energy production, reducing costs to the consumer and reducing our dependence on foreign oil.
“Congressman Gingrey is to be congratulated for putting words into action before the voters make a choice” Hart said. “The American people should be assured that both incumbents and challengers who say they support more drilling before the election will not have a change of heart once they are safely elected to office.”
The pledge commits the candidate to oppose any attempt to reinstate the offshore drilling bans or the ban on oil shale exploration and extraction in the continental United States.
